BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
โ€ข Must be physically able to perform job.
โ€ข Must follow all AIDB policies and procedures and state and federal laws.
โ€ข Must remain awake and alert at all times.
โ€ข Must be able to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
โ€ข Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
โ€ข Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) Student Life Advisor Position will require a sign language proficiency minimum entry level of Survival according to the AIDB evaluation system. All applicants must provide documentation of sign language proficiency or take a sign language proficiency interview (SLPI available through AIDB).
POSITION REQUIRMENTS AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Perform duties in the absence of full-time AIDB staff as required for position including, but not limited to the following:
โ€ข Must be able to work flexible schedule including morning, evening, night and/or weekend as necessary.
โ€ข Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently during work shift and lift more than fifty pounds with assistance or use of assistive device.
โ€ข Assumes responsibility for student life program responsibilities when student life advisor is absent.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
โ€ข Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB
