Job description

Junior Geotechnical / Environmental Engineer

Seeking a Junior Geotechnical / Environmental Engineer to join its New York City team. This is a field-based position supporting a variety of geotechnical and environmental investigation projects throughout the NYC metropolitan area. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer looking to gain hands-on experience with subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, construction oversight, and environmental fieldwork.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field oversight of geotechnical drilling and soil borings.
  • Log soil and rock samples in accordance with project and industry standards.
  • Coordinate drilling subcontractors and field activities.
  • Conduct environmental sampling, including soil, groundwater, sediment, and waste characterization samples.
  • Monitor and document field investigations and site conditions.
  • Assist with installing and sampling monitoring wells.
  • Collect, analyze, and organize field data.
  • Prepare field reports, boring logs, and technical documentation.
  • Support environmental site investigations, remediation projects, and geotechnical evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, health and safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate with project managers, field staff, contractors, and clients regarding project progress and findings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of geotechnical and/or environmental field experience.
  • Strong interest in field-based engineering work.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical investigations, soil classifications, and environmental sampling procedures is preferred.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
