Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Field Engineer to join our growing team at J L Terrell Construction. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the on-site execution of construction projects by ensuring that all engineering and technical aspects are carried out in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and safety standards. As an entry-level position, you will receive guidance and mentorship from senior engineers, providing opportunities for hands-on learning and career growth in the construction industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and coordination of day-to-day operations on construction sites.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to verify work is being completed according to design and safety standards.
  • Document and report any discrepancies or issues encountered on-site to the senior engineering team.
  • Support the preparation of project schedules, progress reports, and daily logs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Help manage and monitor the quality control and safety protocols at the construction site.
  • Participate in the development of field reports, including photos, measurements, and other necessary documentation.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of various construction systems and equipment.
  • Provide technical support for construction teams, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and project requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field activities.


What Were Looking For:

  • An Associate/BS degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in construction, design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with PlanGrid, Procore, and Sage 300 Timberline, with the expectation to become proficient within the first 6 months.
  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel and all MS Office programs.
  • Excellent and proactive communication skills (written, phone, and in-person).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, architects, designers, and the community.
