Switchman / Conductor
Location: Mulberry, FL
Pay: $21.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Road & Rail Services is seeking a dependable Switchman/Conductor to support railroad switching operations in Mulberry, FL. This position is responsible for the safe movement of railcars within an industrial rail yard while working closely with locomotive operators and crew members to keep operations running efficiently and safely.
Previous railroad experience is helpful but not required. We provide hands-on training for individuals who are safety-focused, dependable, and willing to learn. Candidates with experience in construction, manufacturing, farming, logistics, or other physically demanding outdoor environments are encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibilities
Perform rail switching operations and assist with the movement and placement of railcars
Communicate with locomotive operators and crew members using hand signals and radio communication
Inspect railcars, tracks, and switches to identify safety concerns or operational issues
Walk long distances on uneven surfaces and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Climb railcars and operate track switches as part of daily railroad operations
Follow all company safety policies and operating procedures at all times
Qualifications
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to safely perform physically demanding work including walking, climbing, bending, and lifting
Strong attendance, work ethic, and commitment to safety
Ability to work a rotating swing shift that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays
