JOB OVERVIEW:
As a Material Prep Operator, your primary responsibility is to support the mission and Core Values of Hoosier Gasket by preparing materials for production runs on a daily, timely basis. To ensure that all production orders are prepped and processed to press on time for production. Ensuring customer demands and quality standards are met according to HGC guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assuring all factory orders are prepped down and to press on time.
  • Assuring that the correct material and thickness are pulled according to the order.
  • Assuring that materials are being prepped down to the correct measurements required on the
  • factory order by using a tape measure to verify the measurements.
  • Assure thickness is being checked before, during, and after prepping stages and according to the HGC Sampling Table for Lot Acceptance.
  • Constantly monitor quality results, pay attention to detail, and report any defects.
  • Assuring that materials are being prepped down for the correct Press Areas and moved to that area.
  • Read and use Calibers, Micrometers, Tape measures, and Durometers.
  • Learn different materials and thicknesses as well as cutting instructions for each press bank.
  • Pull materials out and into the inventory racks.
  • Logging materials in and out of the inventory logbooks.
  • Set up different material prep machines, such as Power Knives, Sheeter, Slitter, and PSA table.
  • Operate forklifts to deliver cut material to press areas.
  • Follow written and verbal directions.
  • Correctly fill out paperwork for each run.
  • Ensure work area is clean and free of obstruction.
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Interacting and working well with co-workers and management.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus
  • Ability to read and write effectively in English to understand work instructions and complete required documentation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Standing for extended periods 5-10 hours per day
  • Walking for long periods 1-5 hours per day
  • Ability to sit (based on position and department) 1-5 hours per day
  • Twisting, bending, reaching, and engaging in rapid reflex movements for up to 10 hours a day
  • Circumduction, pushing, pulling, reaching, and engaging in rapid flex movements with both arms up to 10 hours a day
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Occasionally lift and carry objects (30 lbs. maximum)
  • Occasionally climb/use a ladder

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant and office employees can/will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles.

COMPENSATION: $17.75/hour based on experience
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm
LOCATION: (On-Site, Indianapolis (Martindale-Brightwood area)
SIGN-ON BONUS: Take advantage of our sign-on bonus opportunity-earn $200 after your first 90 days, $300 after 6 months, and $500 after reaching your 1-year anniversary with the company.
