Job description

Position Summary:
At Mission Design & Automation, we attribute our success to the strength of our team and our ability to be agile and adaptive to new market demands. To build on this team, we are searching for a Fabrication Apprentice. This entry-level role will report to FAB/CNC team leads and work with other team members to perform saw operations, basic machining operations, and light assembly tasks. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn all things associated with fabrication, and an aptitude for understanding mechanical drawings, proper use of measurement tools, saw cut equipment, and the ability to assemble extrusion assemblies to print.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain sawcut machines and associated equipment (band saw, chop saw, abrasive saw, belt sanders, etc.)
  • Basic machining operations
  • Sort, organize and stage sawcut materials for CNC operations
  • Cut, kit, and assemble aluminum extrusion assemblies to print
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and organized work area

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification (Vocational education preferred)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Demonstrated competency in operating sawcut and related machinery
  • Ability to keep steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and climbing into and beneath machines
  • Work as part of a team or independently with direction from FAB/CNC team leads
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. as required
  • Ability to obtain Hi-Lo and Aerial Platform and Overhead Crane License

Tools Required:
  • Toolbox
  • Tape measure 25'
  • Assorted hand tools (hex keys, wrenches, socket set, screw drivers, etc.)
  • PPE (steel toe boots)
