DescriptionThe Mechanic Engineering III position plays a critical role in building operations by performing skilled work to maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems throughout the site.
Likewise, this position is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on the boiler and steam distribution system, hot and chilled water generation and distribution, purified water applications, compressed air generation and distribution, plumbing, and industrial wastewater treatment and removal.
This position will liaise with multiple departments and building occupants. This role fits within an integrated Plant Engineering department where leadership and mentorship are key responsibilities.
(50%) Must be able to make critical decisions on repair priorities based on work assignments:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment on a variety of building systems.
- Inspect and maintain fire protection systems.
- Perform critical functions in the event of an emergency.
- Monitor and operate the Building Management System - responding promptly to alarms and service calls.
- Completing work orders assigned by Management and upholding documentation requirements.
(20%) Must be able to work independently or within a team:
- Adhere to all plant safety procedures and practices, particularly related to isolation of hazardous energy, handling of hazardous materials, and PPE requirements.
- Collaborate with other employees when tackling a large repair or project, with special attention to communication between shifts and personnel.
(20%) Practice a detailed approach to problem solving as it pertains to critical equipment, utilities, or systems on a daily basis:
- Perform preventive maintenance as assigned.
- Maintain inventory of consumable parts and materials. Capable of finding and communicating necessary equipment and parts for projects and communicating that via a parts list.
(10%) Assists Management by evaluating new installations and equipment.
- Can diagnose an issue and propose solutions.
- Maintain awareness of good plumbing and piping principles. Can break down complex systems and troubleshoot.
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications- Must be able to work in extreme temperature conditions (Hot and Cold) and must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to read blueprints and schematics.
- Must be able to use a computer and is familiar with MS office.
- Must be able to maintain HVAC equipment up to 200 tons.
- General mechanical knowledge of pumps, piping, valves, etc.
- Must be able to learn Building Automation controls and programming.
- Familiarity with boiler operation and maintenance preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of college a plus; Trade school with HVAC studies preferred.
- 1-3 Years Experience
- Universal Refrigerant Recovery License , NYS Driver's License
Pay Range:The anticipated hourly range for this position is
$27.00 to $44.00. Exact hourly rate depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Hourly range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to hourly rate, this position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
