Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide a rigorous learning environment for our middle and high school students. This position involves helping students to develop as individuals as well as master the Social Science skills they need to succeed. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans and then implementing those plans in the classroom, giving you the flexibility to tailor your lessons to both you and your studentsโ€™ interests and strengths. This can extend outside the classroom and may include assisting with field trips, coaching sports school clubs and extracurricular activities. More than anything else, middle and high school teachers must develop their studentโ€™s unique talents and foster in them a passion for learning and growing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach students in a classroom setting and manage their daily work output. o Develop teaching and learning materials for use in class, including lesson plans, quizzes, exams, homework, projects and assignments that make use of all student skills.
  • Follow the approved curriculum and modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for studentsโ€™ current learning levels. o Monitor and track student progress and issue grades.
  • Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom climate. o Timely documentation of incidents and accidents that occur in under their supervision.
  • Adhere to the approved classroom schedule. o Maintain professional relationships with parents and legal guardians of students to keep them informed of their childโ€™s progress.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including special ed teachers, teacherโ€™s aids and counsellors, to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis. o Collaborate with other teachers to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
  • Ensure that students meet educational standards and school performance goals for their grade level. o Comply with internal operational procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations to ensure the wellbeing of all students. o Maintain professional relationships between school, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Encouraging parental involvement by participating in school activities and events, connecting home and school. o Participate in ongoing professional development and keep teaching credentials and skills current.
  • Supervising the proper care of school equipment.
  • Performing other duties and projects as assigned by the school administration team.
  • Job Skills & QualificationsMinimum Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree o Basic technology skills
  • Effective organizational skills o Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Experience of working in a classroom setting
  • Essential Requirements:
  • Level II background screening clearance o Ability to speak for long periods of time
  • Possess a strong passion for working with children. o Must be reliable and able to maintain acceptable attendance.
  • Must be coachable and willing to grow professionally o Must be an active team player.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must have the ability to participate in tasks that require moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

    Hours of work may vary. Typical schedules are set between the hours of 7:30 am and 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday.
