Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) โ€“ 3rd Shift

Location: Peterborough, New Hampshire
Schedule: Full-Time | 3rd Shift | Three 12-Hour Shifts per Week

About the Opportunity

Lighthouse Lab Services is partnering with a respected community hospital in the Peterborough, NH area to recruit a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a full-time overnight position. This role offers an excellent work-life balance with a three 12-hour shift schedule while providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care in a collaborative hospital laboratory environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in an independent overnight setting, and is passionate about delivering accurate, timely laboratory results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate and high complexity laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Analyze patient specimens across multiple laboratory departments, including Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, and Microbiology as applicable
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results through quality control and quality assurance procedures
  • Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation
  • Review and verify patient results before reporting to providers
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and hospital regulatory standards
  • Accurately document testing, maintenance, quality control, and corrective actions
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding laboratory results
  • Assist with specimen processing and workflow management during overnight operations
  • Participate in competency assessments, continuing education, and departmental quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related laboratory science field
  • MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), MLT (ASCP), AMT, or equivalent certification preferred (or eligibility to obtain certification)
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred, though strong new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Experience working in a hospital laboratory environment is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
