Job description

Environmental Scientist 4 is an advanced Air/Asbestos inspector position within the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's Office of Environmental Compliance. The role focuses on conducting in-depth inspections of major and minor air facilities, investigating complex citizen complaints and environmental incidents, and mentoring less experienced inspectors. This is an internal promotion open only to current permanent DEQ employees.

Key qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, engineering, geography/geosciences, natural resources, or statistics/quantitative meth
  • OR Master's degree in relevant field plus one year environmental program experience
  • OR Doctorate in relevant science, engineering, geography, or natural resources field
  • Experience in environmental programs, nuclear energy/radiation protection, GIS, environmental/analytical/research laboratories, or laboratory auditing
  • Current permanent employee of DEQ (internal promotion only)
