EnviroScience is looking to hire a full time, entry level Environmental Scientist to support our growing Compliance Services Practice Area at the EnviroScience headquarters in Stow, Ohio. This entry-level position is ideal for someone who works well on a team, can manage several tasks at once, is detail oriented, and completes assignments safely and efficiently. The role includes field work, so candidates should be comfortable working outdoors. Strong basic scientific writing skills are preferred, and availability to travel is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preforming multimedia field sampling including:
    • Surface water
    • Groundwater
    • Stormwater
    • Sediment
  • Performing inspections and site visits in both rural and industrial settings
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule
  • Conducting field work year-round in adverse weather and rough terrain
  • Organizing and reviewing data and assisting in the development of reports
  • Representing client's best interests and support the client as needed during the duration of the project
  • Communicating efficiently with team members and clients

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field with 0-2 years of field experience, or Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an environmental science field.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new systems, equipment, and skill
  • Flexibility for overnight travel. Accommodate long field days and changes in schedule due to weather or clients need
  • Self-motivated, organized, and ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Comfortable driving vehicles for an extended period of time.
  • Strong communication skills with team members in fast-paced field conditions

Preferred:

  • CPR certified
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER
  • Experience with soil classification
  • Able to travel for extended periods.
  • Ability to drive a truck and trailering equipment
  • Ability to operate and work on a boat

We enjoy and appreciate collaboration as a team and expect great communication from the candidate. Teamwork is anticipated through one on ones with staff but will also need to occur through many phone and text/email conversions. Work will include office time to collaborate with other staff and managers.

This candidate is expected to come into the Stow, Ohio office daily to assist staff and project workload. Remote and work from home will occur as needed and with pre-approval from their manager. For any remote work. uninterrupted home-based internet is a must in your home to attend and host video calls, along with a minimum bandwidth speed of 20 mbps.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Communication with others to exchange information.

  • Working outdoors in all kinds of weather as necessary for project(s).

  • Walking for periods of time including maneuvering uneven, uphill, and downhill terrain, project specific.

Travel Requirements: Candidate will have flexibility for overnight and extended travel to assist with field assignments as needed.
