Environmental Inspector – Air Monitoring Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on supporting industrial abatement projects by performing air monitoring, sampling, and reporting in active construction and abatement environments. The position suits candidates with 1–2 years of experience in asbestos air monitoring, environmental remediation, or construction settings, as well as entry-level candidates with relevant construction, asbestos, mold, or environmental exposure who are eager to build a career in environmental services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct air monitoring in abatement areas to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform clearance and experience air sampling before, during, and after abatement activities.
  • Collect, read, and document air samples accurately using established procedures and equipment.
  • Follow established air sampling protocols and chain-of-custody procedures to maintain sample integrity.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, logs, and project documentation for all monitoring activities.
  • Work safely and professionally in active construction and abatement areas, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with project managers, contractors, and clients regarding site conditions and results.
  • Support environmental remediation activities as part of an on-site team, following a structured, step-by-step process.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in both field and office settings to complete projects on schedule.

Essential Skills

  • 1–2 years of experience in asbestos air monitoring, abatement environments, environmental remediation, or construction-related work (or equivalent relevant exposure for entry-level candidates).
  • Experience with or exposure to asbestos air monitoring or abatement environments.
  • Familiarity with active construction environments and jobsites.
  • Understanding of air sampling procedures, including setup, collection, and handling of samples.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols related to asbestos, abatement, and construction environments.
  • Ability to collect, read, and document air samples accurately and consistently.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
