Job description

LHB has an immediate opportunity for an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our Energy and Industry Business Unit. The position will be based in our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota offices. 

Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Work effectively in hybrid work environment
  • Prepare structural design calculations and drawings under guidance of an experienced engineer
  • Participate in virtual and in-person project and department team meetings
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with design team
  • Assist with, direct, and perform project drafting
  • Work with other engineers and technicians to perform field assessments of existing structures
  • Assist with construction site visits and field observations
  • Complete requests for information and review of submittals
  • Meet client objectives, and exceed their expectations
  • Assist with written technical reports 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel domestically, intermittently
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work outside in most weather conditions
  • Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior structural engineering experience including concrete and steel design
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Mathcad, and structural analysis software such as RISA and/or STAAD
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Experience with industry, building, and design codes
  • Experience with proposal preparation
  • Possess excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities
  • MSHA Certification
  • Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, respond positively to feedback, and an openness and desire to learn
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including technical writing ability 

Salary Range

  • This position's anticipated base salary range is $67,925 - $75,075 (This position is eligible for yearend bonuses, as well as straight time pay for all hours that exceed 40 in a work week) Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
