Job description

Job Title: Entry-Level Research Engineer (Materials & Product Development)
Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Research Engineer to support the development, compounding, and testing of advanced polymer and composite material systems. In this role, you will engage in hands-on laboratory work-assisting in the formulation of materials, conducting rigorous mechanical and environmental testing, and preparing technical data reports to drive product innovation.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent engineering or hard science graduate looking to build a career in materials research, product development, and industrial laboratory testing. Working alongside senior scientists and engineers, you will gain exposure to both laboratory-scale compounding and prototype trials in production manufacturing environments. If you have a solid foundation in chemistry, physics, or engineering and a passion for hands-on material science, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Materials Preparation & Compounding
Formulation Support: Assist in the preparation, compounding, and formulation of polymer-modified matrices, coatings, and composite materials.
Process Execution: Support laboratory mixing and processing activities while adhering to strict safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent material batches.
Prototype Trials: Collaborate with engineering teams to assist with pilot-scale or production facility trials for new product prototypes.
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
Mechanical Testing: Perform routine physical and mechanical testing on material samples (evaluating properties such as tensile strength, elongation, thermal stability, and softening points).
Durability Assessment: Assist with environmental exposure and accelerated weathering testing, including heat aging and environmental stress evaluations.
Data Integrity: Accurately record, organize, and maintain experimental data, instrument logs, and observations.
Reporting & Safety Compliance
Data Organization: Compile experimental data tables and summaries for review by senior research leads.
Safety & 5S Culture: Maintain a safety-oriented laboratory environment adhering to 5S principles, proper hazardous material handling, and rigorous Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, etc.) or a Hard Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related field).
Academic Foundation: Completed coursework in college-level chemistry and physics.
Technical Competencies:
oStrong aptitude for hands-on laboratory work and mechanical/physical testing.
oMeticulous attention to detail with strong record-keeping and data organization skills.
oHigh commitment to workplace safety and adherence to strict laboratory protocols.
Preferred Attributes
Degree specifically in an Engineering discipline (Chemical or Materials Engineering preferred).
Specialized coursework or academic focus in Materials Science and Polymer Chemistry/Processing.
Prior hands-on exposure via cooperative education (Co-Op), internships, or undergraduate research in an industrial or academic laboratory setting.
