Juncos Hollinger Racing is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Race Engineer to lead the technical development and operation of an INDYCAR race car!

Responsibilities

Job description:

The position of Race Engineer is a key role within the Engineering group. The Race Engineer is responsible for the management of the car at races and tests as well as preparation of pre and post event materials relating to the performance and efficient running of the race car. The role combines a high level of technical competence with excellent communication with team members, engineers and drivers.

Responsibilities:

In preparation for an event the Race Engineer will:

Produce written planning documents covering all aspects of the running of the car at the event, including run plans, setups and fuel and tire planning, as well as historical timing and logged data to provide to the driver.

Liaise with the race team over the specification of the car - it's intended run plan and preparation of test parts and test points.

During the event the Race Engineer will:

In co-operation with the engineering group - lead the performance of the car in terms of setup, strategy and efficient use of all resources available.

Attend briefings and debriefs.

Communicate with the driver on track and in the pitlane.

Plan, write and communicate the run plan for sessions and the race.

Execute the race strategy

In co-operation with powertrain and tire engineers manage the car for maximum performance.

Efficiently communicate with the race team to achieve the highest level of preparation and readiness for sessions.

Work with the driver to understand the function of car systems and provide reference materials to allow the driver to get the best performance from the car.

In co-operation with the race team, ensure the car is reliable.

Know the technical regulations as they apply to the car and its management, as well as the sporting regulations as they apply to running the car in practice and executing the race strategy

During the race, the Race Engineer will monitor car performance from a technical point of view, including setup and tire adjustments and apply the race strategy with input from the engineering group.

Post event the Race Engineer will produce written reports and provide data and summaries to improve team performance. Provide input into test and development programs.

As part of the engineering group, the Race Engineer will be expected to contribute to the constant improvement and development of team performance and provide input in problem solving both in the shop and at the track.
