ABOUT THE ROLE

The QC Technician is responsible for safely implementing Quality Control for production and shipping of our products. The main objective of the technician is to ensure the quality and the consistency of the concrete, as well as to help solve any issues that arise and help deal with the situations immediately.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Test and monitor concrete and aggregate quality for the area and provide monthly reports to quality control team.
  • Implement programs, processes, and the Amrize Quality Program to ensure compliance of all products with relevant Codes, Standards, and Specifications.
  • Record, monitor, and communicate concrete performance with key stakeholders-investigate variances from Plan and establish corrective actions as required.
  • Provide input to ensure alignment between Sales and Operational staff to ensure product performance meets customer expectations.
  • Participate in QC Planning & Activities and make effective use of Quadrel and Command software.
  • Perform concrete lab trials for new mixes and/or products.
  • Provide technical product expertise to sales, dispatch, and operations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: Secondary education with experience in construction.
  • Preferred Education: Post-secondary education in Civil technology, engineering, or equivalent or advanced students is a plus.
  • Preferred Field of Study: Civil engineering, material engineering, applied sciences.
  • Required Work Experience: This is an entry-level position that gives a good opportunity to build a solid career at Amrize.
  • Required Technical Skills: Good computer skills for Windows based software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Travel Requirements: 30% work at the plant, 40% at job sites, 30% remote plants within the SW/HNS/Tri Cities area.

Additional Requirements:

  • Should have excellent written and oral communication skills and capable of creating good relationships internally and externally with our customers.
  • Must also be able to work well as part of a team and independently.
  • Driven, proactive, high accountability, and self-motivated.
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds.
  • Driver License, minimum G2.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
