Embedded Firmware and Software Engineer
Description -
Job Summary
• This role is responsible for conducting analysis, design, programming, debugging, troubleshooting, and modification of software for firmware (IC embedded code) applications. The role performs programming activities involving analog and digital hardware and software operating systems. The role writes and optimizes code for microcontrollers and other embedded systems, managing system resources and hardware interfaces. The role conducts thorough testing and validation of firmware to ensure reliability, stability, and compatibility.
Responsibilities
• Develops full software stack for ISPs including firmware for peripheral hardwares, data flow frameworks, and more; enables co-work of development and algorithm engineers on the same software code base.
• Designs and implements firmware modules to support various hardware interfaces.
• Performs system-level debugging and troubleshooting to identify and resolve hardware/firmware-related issues.
• Leads the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of complex firmware designs.
• Codes and programs enhancements, updates, and changes for portions and subsystems of firmware, including DSP, embedded code, EFI drivers, EFI applications and BIOS/UEFI.
• Executes established test plans and protocols for assigned portions of code; identifies, logs, and debugs assigned issues.
• Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on firmware design and development.
• Participates as a member of project team of other software firmware engineers to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately-complex products.
• Applies foundational principles and contributes proactively to projects through research and data analysis support, providing regular updates on accomplishments and impediments.
• Supports priority projects with direction, maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and sharing information via standardized reports.
Education & Experience Recommended
• Four-year Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in firmware development, or a related field.
