Description
Position: Instrumentation & Electrical Technician
Reports To: Foreman
Summary: The I&E Technician is tasked with equipment maintenance, calibration, and record-keeping for measurement/instrumentation and electrical equipment, in compliance with all applicable internal requirements and external regulations.
Essential Qualifications, Duties, and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
  • Must have a clean driving record & hold a valid driver's license with the operating capacity Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,001 - 26,001 pounds - (Louisiana: Class D Chauffer's License)
  • TWIC Card required
  • General pipeline knowledge and working experience with medium voltage equipment up through 4,160 Vac.
  • Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all field instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and electrical equipment.
  • Responsible for prompt and accurate diagnosis of minor problems and the implementation of corrective action. Consult directly with equipment vendors on problems for resolution as necessary.
  • Knowledge of RTUs. Understanding of digital and analog 1/0, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings.
  • Proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters.
  • Conduct in depth failure analysis on repeat equipment failures.
  • Conduct evaluation tests on valves, motors, instruments, etc.
  • Coordinate and conduct well maintenance activities on wells and batteries for New Installs/Upgrades, recurring problems where root cause cannot be identified by Well Tech.
  • Coordinate and conduct maintenance activities on end devices to include pre-programming of transmitters w/ hart communicator and ensure data accuracy on all fluid and gas measurement meters.
  • Implement design for wells within guidelines of automation standards.
  • Respond & provide automation support during all outages and work off assigned schedules & maintain zero out of compliance work orders
  • Provide analytical support on problem wells.
  • Provide input on new technologies.

Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Instrumentation & Electrical Technicians must be willing to comply with PCM Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations. They must also comply with all governmental regulations.
