About the Job :
Electrical apprentices start with routine tasks and progress to more complex assignments as they gain knowledge and skills throughout the program. Under the supervision of a journeyman electrician or electrical foreman, they learn to maintain, repair, and install electrical or electronic equipment and systems while prioritizing safety. As their understanding of the trade grows, apprentices are expected to exercise increasing judgment in their work.
What You'll Do :
  • Assist a skilled electrician by supplying materials, equipment, and tools at the scene of jobs.
  • Participate in stringing overhead/underground lines and cables and in installing conduit and wire.
  • Participate as a trainee in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wiring systems and other electrical or electronic equipment. Must have the ability to:
    • Learn the practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of the Electrician's trade.
    • Learn to read and draw simple electrical sketches.
    • Learn the occupational hazards of the Electrician's trade.
    • Gradually perform assigned tasks with less supervision.
    • Learn how to operate power driven machinery such as roto-hammers, band saws, drill presses, or grinders.
    • Use common hand tools such as a screwdriver, wrench, hammer, or other similar tools.
  • Perform routine installations and repairs of fuses, motors, and sensors including terminations.
  • Work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality support to the plant operations.

Qualifications
Skills You'll Need :
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Continuing education in related coursework is desirable.

Experience:
  • Some experience in the aggregate or related industry.
  • Some related experience working with electricity is desired.
  • Some experience working safely with hand and power tools.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Positive Attitude
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Some computer skills; cell phones and other electronic devices
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn to perform simple algebraic calculation (pipe bending)
