Job description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for executing portions of the electrical designs of transformers. This includes reviewing and creating designs as well as maintaining them. S/he may evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. This individual must possess entry-level problem-solving skills. S/he follows standard guidelines; selects from the most appropriate of several guidelines, making minor adjustments as necessary to achieve results.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews designs and processes design work. Reviews electrical design characteristics and consults with more senior engineer on design criteria or complex design issues.
  • Participates in portions of product electrical design work
  • Remains current with industry and technical developments and maintain a high level of expertise in designated areas of specialization.
  • Maintains designated design, manufacturing and process related documentation.
  • Consults with marketing, customers and design engineering staff to understand and develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Consults with manufacturing process leaders to develop and optimize design solutions at the optimum total cost.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Good process and problem solving skills
  • A team player with strong people skills; ability to build relationships
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation
  • Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft applications: Power Point, Excel and Word
  • Analytical capacity for creative problem-solving, process design and product application, design and development
  • Data collection and analysis skills
  • Understanding of and skill in use of specific design methods, rationales and tools (e.g. FEA, DFM, robust design)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering

Preferred Education / Experience

  • Prior experience in an engineering internship
