Responsibilities

The electrical / automation engineer is responsible for the electrical engineering portion of Valmet new equipment and TIPS/MODS (converting, packaging, fold) along with reviewing all electrical tips and mods coming from Valmet Italy.

The electrical / automation engineer strives to meet the unique needs of the customers by customizing the hardware and software while also maintaining standards.

Requirements

  • Create job specific electrical schematics and Bill of material.
  • Create job specific PLC software (Rockwell and Siemens) and HMI software.
  • Support sales team by answering engineering questions on feasibility of changes.
  • Support purchasing team if needed to evaluate new supplier and brands.
  • Support customer service team on electrical replacement parts for obsolescence.
  • Support technicians to resolve the software and engineering issues for tips and mods.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of Tip/Mod engineering activities to respect the target cost and the promised delivery time.
  • Resolve the electrical non-conformities identified at suppliers or Valmet processes.
  • Design, engineer and promote electrical Tips/upgrades for obsolete electrical platforms.
  • Travel when necessary to customer's sites to promote or install equipment (Up to 25%)
  • Coordinate and participate in tips/mods design reviews with customers.
  • Self-motivated, engaged, passionate individual.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar experience in the workplace / industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with diverse cross functional teams.
  • Analytical process skills regarding projects/programs.
  • Experience with general root cause analysis and rapid problem solving.
  • Able to prioritize and work through busy schedules.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Control Packages - Rockwell and Siemens
  • Knowledge of Pneumatic Systems
  • Ability to create schematics and BOM's. (Experience with E3, Promis, Eplan Preferred)
  • Project management skills
  • SAP experience, knowledge
  • Industry experience is preferred.
