Our Decatur, AL facility is currently recruiting to fill the role of 3rd shift Team Leader.

The Team Leader will spend more than 90% of work hours performing plating tasks similar to those of other group members. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fabricates and assembles metals parts and equipment for machinery used in steel production.
  • Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, applying mathematics, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage and physical properties of metal.
  • Constructs templates and fixtures.
  • Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Performs welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electrical welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
  • Sets up, assembles and tack welds parts.
  • Builds up worn and/or defected surfaces.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Determines operation sequences and methods where specifications are not available.
  • Accurate aligning and fitting are required.
  • Refers to technical drawings and written directions.
  • Using a torch or an oxygen lance, dismantles, assembles, and cuts materials to size and shape.
  • Mentors entry and mid-level fabricators
  • Ensure the safety and productivity of employees on assigned crew
  • Receive written and verbal instruction, direction and training from Supervisor or other Senior Managers and disseminate this information to employees of the fabrication department.
  • Lead troubleshooting.   
  • Train employees and may participate in performance appraisal process.
  • Operate from a broad scope of responsibility to maintain equipment deadlines and to ensure quality standards are met
  • Enable effective communications between management and operators.
  • Participate in risk assessments, near miss and incident investigations
  • Enforce procedures and policies
  • May assist in the hiring process
  • Serve as point of contact for customer and/or vendors in the absence or in support of the department Supervisor

Required Education/Experience -  

 - High School Diploma or equivalent 

Leadership experience preferred, but not required
