Job Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description

This Field Service Engineer focues on automotive custom machine manufacturing.

This role would be ideal for an entry-level candidate whose eager to transition into controls or electrical engineering role, while being given hands on experience and training in the field.

This position offers the opportunity to learn and grow quickly. Candidates with a strong foundation in their academic studies, who have actively participated in college projects or have hands-on experience through co-ops or internships, will thrive in this role.

  • Approx. 90% travel across the U.S.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in a hands-on engineering role, learning and developing skills through observation and practice.
  • Undergo training for 2-4 months at the Grand Rapids site, receiving guidance from the Field Service Manager and team.
  • Travel 70-90% of the time to various locations across the US to engage with customers.
  • Assist customers in starting up, running, and commissioning equipment.
  • Work with electrical assembly of panels, high voltage power sources, PLC panels, transistors, and motor drives on large, automated equipment.
  • Perform tasks related to automotive assembly plant testing equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Fundamental understanding of PLC/ladder logic.
  • Demonstrated eagerness and interest in developing new skills.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience gained through co-ops or internships.
Work Environment

When based at home, the role involves both desk work and hands-on machine interaction. Significant time will be spent on the floor at customer sites troubleshooting, installing, and servicing equipment.

The position entails regular travel within the US, with all travel arrangements managed internally. Expenses for travel, hotels, and meals are covered. Employees will receive overtime pay for hours worked beyond regular hours, with double time for specific circumstances.
