Job description

Description:ย  Full-time Special Education Teacher for Highland Middle School SDEP (Social Developmental and Education Program) grades 7-8
Job Summary:ย  Applicants must be willing to:

  • Learn and implement a comprehensive system (including a Point system and a therapeutic component) for promoting student behavioral success.
  • Be trained in the structure of the SDEP program and ACT therapy by the district's Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Collect and upload student behavior data to the BCBA.
  • Collect, organize, and use data to drive decision-making for academics and behavior.
  • Consult with the Director of Special Services, Principal, and BCBA on a regular basis to maintain programming integrity and functionality.
  • Individualize lessons and deliver instruction to students with a variety of academic and behavioral needs.
  • Receive training and be prepared to use CPI de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Learn and use online IEP software and write IEPs according to state andย district guidelines.
  • Manage and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals (program assistants and individual care aides).
  • Contribute to and support school improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with administration and related service staff (counselor, social worker, nurse, etc.) in order to deliver service to students.


Qualifications:ย  Must meet requirements for reimbursement as an LBS I Endorsed Teacher.
