Job Summary

BCWM is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented Entry-Level Paraplanner to join our Wealth Management team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate or early-career professional who is interested in building a career in wealth management and financial planning.

The Paraplanner provides technical, analytical, and operational support to our Wealth Advisors, with a primary focus on preparing and maintaining comprehensive Wealth Management Reviews for existing and prospective clients. The position involves gathering and organizing financial information, preparing reports and planning analyses, maintaining client records, and assisting Wealth Advisors with client meeting preparation and follow-up.

The Paraplanner may occasionally communicate directly with clients and participate in client meetings in a supporting capacity, but will not provide financial or investment advice.

This position has no business development requirements and offers an opportunity to learn from experienced Wealth Advisors while developing the technical and professional skills necessary for long-term advancement within the firm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become proficient with software we regularly use, such as Microsoft Office (particularly Excel/PowerPoint), Schwab Advisor Center, Tamarac, Advisor Engine, Adobe Acrobat, Modestspark, etc.
  • Maintain our schedule of Wealth Management Reviews with our existing clients and our prospective client pipeline.
  • Obtain and update client financial information.
  • Prepare financial reports such as Stock Incentive Summaries, Statements of Net Worth, Retirement/Education Projections, Life Insurance Needs, and Pension/Social Security Claiming Strategies.
  • Compile and understand other important reports which comprise our Wealth Management Review books such as Investment Returns/Allocations, Projected Income, YTD Taxable Activity, Recent Transactions, etc.
  • Understand and maintain records related to Income Tax, Estate, Insurance, and Philanthropic planning.
  • Assist in interpreting tax documents issued by our custodian(s).
  • Ensure follow-up letters to client meetings are processed timely.

Client Service & Office Support

  • Provide a professional and welcoming experience for clients, prospective clients, and visitors.
  • Greet and direct clients and other visitors.
  • Screen and route incoming telephone calls.
  • Assist with general administrative and office responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with Wealth Advisors and other team members to provide excellent client service.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required or expected, preferably in:
    • Finance
    • Financial Planning
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Business
    • Mathematics
    • Or another related field
  • Recent graduates and candidates with limited professional experience are encouraged to apply.

Experience

  • 0–2 years of professional experience preferred; relevant internship, academic, or project experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience in wealth management or financial planning is preferred.
  • We are primarily looking for a candidate with the right educational background, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, and willingness to learn.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with experience (80% base and 20% production). The production component simply means this portion fluctuates quarterly (it is not a bonus, per se) proportionate to our top-line revenues, which are communicated to you. We financially encourage a "client-first" culture, focusing on teamwork vs. individual production.

Our successful candidate will also be eligible for up to an additional $5,000 annually in incentive bonuses based on objective goals for you individually.

We greatly value becoming eligible for and passing the CFP® exam. Upon passing, your compensation will increase at an annual rate of $10,000 retroactive to the date of the exam. We also reimburse costs associated with preparing for and taking the CFP® exam up to $6,000. Passing the exam is the first step towards an advancement opportunity to become a client-facing Wealth Advisor.

Retirement Plan

We currently match 150% of the first 6% of your 401(k) contributions, and often make annual, discretionary contributions to our Profit Sharing Plan. There is a 5-year vesting schedule on any employer contributions.
