VCS is looking for an AutoCAD Drafter for one of our client

Start: ASAP
Location: Austin, TX 78744
Contract: 1 year with possible extension
Pay Rate: $23/hr
Shifts: Morning Shift (Monday-Friday)

Attendance/Performance Appreciation: Up to $250/Month as Gift Cards (Non- Taxable)
Weekly: $45/week if you work at least 40 Hours/week
Monthly: $70/Month if you work at least 152 Hours/Month (In addition to weekly)

Job Description

General Overview: At an entry level, performs drafting.

This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.

This position focuses drafting and a combination of the following:

    • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, construction drawings and other technical information.
    • Using computer-aided design software and equipment (AutoCAD), prepares detailed engineering drawings, maps and graphs from provided materials such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches and standard references.
    • Clearly indicates revisions.
    • Files drawings and drawing update documentation according to standard procedures.
    • Assists in drafting solicitation documents using established procedures, formats and templates to support procurement and contract activities.
    • Assists with field and/or office research related to field measurements, historical engineering drawings, equipment databases, microfilm, inventory, electronic document management system (EDMS) records and other technical records to design equipment and layouts, as well as to produce equipment ratings and facility statistics.
    • Prepares basic specifications, materials and fixed capital unit (FCU) lists.
    • Performs data entry in the departmental engineering database.
    • Prepares basic reports related to projects, work plans, equipment, assets and budgets. Assists with preparing more complex reports.
    • Operates equipment, such as plotters, printers, copiers and scanners.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • One or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis or drafting using computer-aided design software.
    • A degree in computer-aided design or relevant field may be substituted per the client guidelines for certain years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of engineering principles
    • Knowledge of computer-aided drafting principles, standards and techniques
    • Knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS)
    • Knowledge of work management systems
    • Basic skill in computer-aided drafting
    • Basic skill in reading and interpreting diagrams and prints
    • Basic skill level in office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
    • Skill in reading and interpreting technical information
    • Skill in analyzing and solving problems
    • Skill in verbal and written communication
    • Skill in operating plotters, printers, copiers and scanners
    • Ability to perform accurate data entry
    • Ability to work in a team environment

Work Environment:

    • Work hours are spent in an office and/or electrical substation

Physical Demands:
