Logistics Specialist (Entry-Level)

Coconut Creek, FL | Full-Time, Non-Exempt | On-Site

Location: 5225 Johnson Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073

Schedule: Full-time, Mon–Fri, with weekend, after-hours, and on-call availability for deployments

Pay: $45,000/yr during a 6-month introductory period, then $50,000/yr. Non-exempt; overtime paid at 1.5× regular rate per the FLSA

Travel: Domestic and occasional international travel; deliveries 7–10 days at a time and disaster-response deployments 30–45 days at a time, often on short notice

About the Role

FORTS Logistics, a Coconut Creek–based leader in disaster logistics, supports federal, state, local, and international customers by rapidly delivering critical equipment for any event or disaster. The Logistics Specialist is an entry-level, on-site role responsible for the maintenance, preparation, inventory, and deployment of FORTS equipment and products in support of field operations, training, and customer deliveries.

Essential Functions

The following functions are essential under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on FORTS equipment and products.
  • Prepare, stage, load, and deliver equipment to domestic and, when assigned, international customers.
  • Conduct outdoor installations, modifications, and on-site repairs in the field.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, UTVs, and similar equipment in accordance with OSHA training requirements (29 CFR 1910.178).
  • Load and secure equipment — including forklifts, UTVs, C-FORTS units, and palletized cargo — for road, sea, rail, or air shipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, maintenance, and shipping records, and complete pre-deployment inspections.
  • Serve as an on-shift safety observer; identify, report, and help mitigate hazards.
  • Collaborate with FORTS staff, vendors, and customers; attend daily and weekly meetings.
  • Travel domestically and internationally on short notice for deliveries and disaster response.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. This list is not exhaustive and may change with or without notice.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without sponsorship. Employment is contingent on Form I-9 verification and, where applicable, E-Verify confirmation under federal law and Fla. Stat. § 448.095.
  • Valid Florida REAL ID Class E (or higher) driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Valid U.S. passport, or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficient to safely follow equipment, safety, and shipping instructions (job-related safety necessity).
  • Successful completion of a post-offer background check and drug screening, conducted under the FCRA and Florida law. Results are evaluated individually; a prior conviction is not an automatic disqualifier.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (or progress toward one) in logistics, supply chain, operations, or emergency management.
  • One or more years of experience in logistics, warehouse, field operations, maintenance, military logistics, or construction.
  • OSHA forklift certification, OSHA 10/30, FEMA IS-100/200/700/800, TWIC, or HAZMAT awareness training.
  • Mechanical, electrical, or generator-maintenance aptitude; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

With or without reasonable accommodation, this position requires the ability to:

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, and climb ladders and stairs for extended periods.
  • Sit and drive for extended periods during deliveries and deployments.
  • Work in warehouse, outdoor yard, and field environments with exposure to heat, humidity, rain, wind, occasional cold, noise, and uneven terrain.
  • Wear required PPE (safety footwear, eye and hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility apparel) in accordance with OSHA standards.
Benefits

Medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D insurance; paid time off and holidays; Florida workers’ compensation and reemployment coverage. Eligibility and plan details are governed by the official plan documents.
