Job description

Ski/Snowboard Instructor - Entry Level
Base Pay: starts at $17/hr depending on experience (plus free lunch!)
Location: On Mountain, Ski School
Employee Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Job Category: Seasonal part-time and holiday only positions are available
Leadership Responsibilities: None
Required Certs or Licenses: None. All training provided with opportunities to get certified!
Attendance: Reliable, predictable, punctual and in-person attendance is an essential function of this job. Due to the resort nature of our business, applicants should expect to work weekends and holidays.
Estimated start date: Early December
Minimum Age: 18 years old (Junior and Apprentice Instructor positions available for ages 14-17)
Typical Shift: Starting around 8am-9am and ending around 3pm-4pm depending on business volume
Environment: Some indoor duties are required however most of your time will be spent outside on the snow in all kinds of winter weather.

Job Summary: This Job Summary is intended to be a broad description of duties. You will be expected to carry out all responsibilities and tasks asked of you.
Our ski and snowboard school is instructor centered, everyone works with adults and children, and teaches both group and private lessons. We know that happy, motivated employees make happy successful guests. It really is just that simple. We are hiring for all levels of certified and uncertified ski, snowboard, and Nordic instructors as well as Children's Specialists. Training opportunities are available all season long.
We are looking for applicants who can provide exceptional guest service at all times, work well under pressure, follow strict policies and procedures, work as a team, and help foster a positive, fun, and safe work environment. Applicants must be able to provide their own ski equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties will be assigned.
  • Your primary role will be introducing people to the sport for their first time
  • Teaches adult group lessons, kid group lessons, and private lessons to primarily first-time students.
  • When assigned to kid group lessons: assist with boot and helmet fitting of students, gather essential gear, and answer questions.
  • When assigned to adult group lessons: verify equipment fit and ability level of gathered students, collect goal statements, and answer questions.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level is preferred however ski/snowboard experience is not required for the right candidate.
  • Enthusiasm, positivity, and a passion for working with people and helping guests learn to love snow sports
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others - guests, instructors, supervisors, other employees
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment where inclement weather is common
  • Ability to ride chairlifts and moving carpets and to assist students with the loading of chairlifts and moving carpets

Other skills and abilities
  • Ability to maintain personal and guest safety as a top priority
  • Must make a continued effort to seek training and improve personal skiing/riding skills, teaching skills and coaching knowledge
  • Must consistently provide a guest experience that exceeds the guest's expectations.
  • Must be comfortable wearing ski boots or snowboard boots for extended periods.
  • Must understand and adhere to the Responsibility Code and Skier Safety Act.
