Job description

Position Title: Generator Installation Technician 

Reporting to: Production Manager 

Department: Production

We live that statement every single day. We are looking for a Generator Installation Technician to help support that mission. 

Job Summary 

CPS&S sells, installs, maintains and services a number of brands of standby and continuous, prime power generators.  These generators serve a growing list of customers, dominated by data centers.  This effort requires a very specific on-site technician starting with installation. 

Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have some degree of prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines and industrial / commercial electrical distribution. However, more importantly,we are looking for technicians who want to grow their skills.  The Generator Installation Technician will routinely work closely with Engineering, Production and Sales teams to meet customer needs. 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist teams in the Installation of critical power systems, start-up and commissioning 

  • May assist in selecting a location that allows adequate space for layout and easy access for maintenance 

  • Be involved in the Installation process from the time of delivery 

  • Connect generator(s) to power distribution system 

  • Connect generator(s) to on-site fuel source (fuel tanks or gas lines) 

  • Install all monitoring equipment to track performance and system health 

  • Conduct final inspection to ensure installation is correct and safety standards are met

Qualifications 

  • Flexibility and willingness to be On-Call, and able to work Overtime on occasion 

  • Willingness and Ability to Travel Overnight 

  • Experience with higher voltage Generator Maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins equipment) a plus 

  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge and experience 

  • Diagnostic Skills 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 

  • Graduation from a Technical School preferred 

  • AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech a big Plus 

  • Military Experience is a Plus 

WORK CONDITIONS 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
