Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspection Team Leader / Engineer III at the Grand Rapids, Michigan or Novi, Michigan office to perform routine, in-depth, and fracture critical inspections. Inspections may include use of snooper trucks, bucket trucks, boats, and/or man lifts. Inspections will require in-state and some out-of-state travel.
This opportunity can include bridge load ratings and bridge construction inspection oversight. The ability to complete design related tasks with a clear understanding of Michigan DOT, regional and municipal standards is applicable to the responsibilities of this position.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid DMV license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bridge design or load rating experience.
  • 2+ years' experience of in-service bridge inspections highly peffered.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • PE highly preferred.
  • Certified Bridge Inspector/Team Leader status in at least 1 state.
  • AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) experience.
  • FHWA-NHI-130055 or 130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification.
  • FHWA-NHI-130078 NSTM Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges Certification.
  • Experience operating snooper trucks, bucket trucks, and man lifts.
