Guidant Power | Engineering services by Morrow Engineering | Wichita, KS or Colorado Springs, CO | Remote consideredAbout Us
Guidant Power delivers electrical safety, reliability, engineering, and training services to leading companies across North America, serving clients in 47 states and counting. Our engineering services are powered by Morrow Engineering, a Guidant Power company providing electrical engineering for industrial power systems since 1986, with over 7,000 studies completed for national clients in food and beverage, manufacturing, energy, data centers, and logistics. You will work alongside Guidant sister companies in arc flash analysis, infrared thermography, and electrical safety training. The Role
This is an entry level position for a recent graduate or an engineer with one to two years of experience. You will support our Project Engineers on power distribution projects for new installations and retrofits across multiple clients, handling the engineering and design work that keeps those projects moving: building models, running calculations, producing drawings, and collecting field data. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers and licensed PEs while you build the core skills of a power systems consultant. Expect real project work from day one, with a clear path toward independent project responsibility and PE licensure. What You Will Do
  • Provide engineering and design support to Project Engineers on new installation and retrofit projects for multiple clients: models, calculations, drawings, and deliverable preparation
  • Build and update power system models in ETAP, SKM Power*Tools, and EasyPower under senior engineer direction
  • Perform short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash calculations per IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E
  • Travel to client facilities to collect equipment data and verify one line accuracy, including energized data collection under NFPA 70E procedures with proper PPE and training (5-15% travel)
  • Create and revise one line diagrams, schematics, and design drawings in AutoCAD
  • Draft study reports and arc flash labels for senior review
  • Participate in internal training on power system fundamentals, study methodology, and electrical safety
What We Are Looking For
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program, power systems coursework preferred
  • Zero to two years of experience; internships and co-ops in power or industrial settings count
  • FE exam passed or scheduled, preferred
  • Exposure to ETAP, SKM Power*Tools, or EasyPower is a plus;
  • Exposure / working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Solid grasp of three phase power fundamentals: per unit analysis, fault calculations, transformer and motor basics
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and the discipline to document your work
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments and follow site safety requirements
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. and able to pass client background checks
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary ($70k-$85k) and benefits including health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off
  • Full licensure support: FE and PE exam fees, prep materials, and study time
  • A defined growth path from engineer to project ownership, with mentorship from licensed PEs
  • Variety most firms cannot offer: studies, design, and field work across national clients and industries
