Role Summary
Engineers in T. Rowe Price's Distribution & Marketing Services - Institutional and Intermediary Technology organization are playing a key role in helping build the future of financial services, working hand-in-hand with business partners to build client experiences that are changing the way people invest. We are employing new paradigms such as cloud computing, lightweight microservices, and distributed and non-relational databases to deliver elastically scalable, globally distributed and highly resilient software services.
This is a hands-on, full development lifecycle role which provides an opportunity to tackle sophisticated business, logic, data and technical challenges. You will be required to think creatively and bring ground breaking technology in-house. We will expect you to be agile and think outside the box. In this role you will design, develop, modify, adapt and implement short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes as well as code, test, debug and implement software solutions.
Responsibilities

  • Contributes to all parts of the SDLC, e.g., design, development, and testing
  • Develops technical solutions following standard methodologies with some guidance from senior engineers
  • Identifies and remediates technical debt
  • Works with existing data models and schemas and suggests changes and improvements where necessary
  • Demonstrates strong logic and reasoning capabilities
  • Delivers on well-specified work items
  • Uses questions and proposals to clarify requirements when unclear

Qualifications
Required:

  • BS or MS Degree in a technical discipline and 1+ years of demonstrated hands-on software engineering experience. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • Programs proficiently in several languages and is comfortable switching between them
  • Knowledge of SQL, Relational Database Concepts and Stored Procedures
  • Strong Test-Driven Development and desire to write simple, adaptive and iterative code.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environment
  • Enthusiasm for learning & results oriented
  • Debugs large components with limited assistance and assists other engineers
  • Designs and develops practical APIs and abstractions.
  • Able to operate with openness and efficiency with one or more SDLC methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
  • Actively seeks feedback and guidance to improve technical skills (e.g., through submitting work for code review)
  • Demonstrates competence in one or two programming languages or technologies
  • Works with existing data models and schemas and suggests changes and improvements where necessary
  • Debugs and fixes your own software with minimal assistance

Preferred:

  • Experience building applications and deploying to public or private clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or similar providers
  • Understanding of AI-driven tools, workflow automation, or analytics-enabled business solutions.
  • Financial industry experience

$77,500.00 - $132,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers
$85,000.00 - $145,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.
$96,500.00 - $165,000.00 for the location of: New York, California

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
