In this position, you will be working on high-speed mixed-signal communication circuits using state-of-the art process technology, as well as be involved in the design of high performance digital circuits interfacing to leading edge analog circuitry as part of an overall system.


Your responsibilities will include RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, verification, evaluation, debugging of high-speed communication chips both at the circuit level and behavioral level.


As a design engineer, you will prepare test methods and specifications, assist in preparation of application information, data sheets and demo boards. You will develop solutions to complex problems through assessment of various techniques and approaches. You will plan and organize work to ensure timely completion of many independent tasks with general instructions on routine tasks and with detailed instructions on new assignments.


This position involves routine communication with a highly talented team of analog and digital design engineers to solve problems and present information as well as active participation in work groups, providing ideas and collaborative teamwork.

As a member of the Embedded Processors team, you will be working on state-of-the-art processors and microcontrollers to make the world smarter, safer, and greener.  These products are the heart of autonomous vehicles, intelligent robots, electric vehicles, and energy efficient homes and push the boundaries of technology integrating high-speed interface controllers, networking accelerators, deep learning accelerators, DSPs, ARM/RISC-V compute cores, vision analytics, security, and multimedia.  You will help build products that will transform the world by making technology reachable, affordable and accessible for all.

About the Job

The job offers the opportunity to Design, Architect and Micro-architect IPs enabling data movement, interconnect, safety, security, Realtime functionality and broader infrastructure components to help develop Embedded Processors. As an IP owner, you will drive the requirements gathering, design, and implementation of the IP's to ensure that the differentiated IP meets all functional requirements as well as holds high quality standards.

You will interface with various engineering teams within the product line including SoC Design, Verification, Validation, Test, Systems, Applications and Marketing to successfully execute new IP's from concept to design.

You will be a core member in the IP Design team driving flawless execution, while finding innovative solutions to customers' problems through "out of the box thinking" to deliver highly differentiated products.

Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Be a key team member from IP requirement definition till release to market, working closely with all cross-functional teams
  • Define or enhance the micro-architecture for digital IP blocks
  • RTL development and QC flows to ensure superior IP quality
  • Interface with 3rd party IP vendors and drive requirements and delivery milestones/quality
  • Work closely with IP verification team to help build the IP verification plan and tests.  Support functional debugs
  • Support IP during silicon bring-up activities, test program development, customer engagement and silicon/application debug 
  • Drive IP architectural optimization for area, power and performance improvements

Minimum requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Design/RTL/DV development 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on front-end design experience of complex multi clock domain IP blocks
  • Ability to convert high level system requirements/changes into micro-architectural changes and then into RTL
  • Must know Verilog 
  • Experience with Lint checkers, Clock domain crossing (CDC) checkers, Synthesis and timing-closure 
  • Must have worked with simulation and waveform debug tools (eg: Cadence Ncsim)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Expertise in Data movement, SOC integration concepts, bus-protocols (AMBA i.e. AXI, CHI, AHB, APB etc) and exposure to ARM CPU cores, DDR   
  • Experience with System Verilog
  • Knowledge of ARM processors, DSPs, Cache systems
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Tcl, Perl, and Python
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery 
  • Verification and validation experiences are a plus
