POSITION SUMMARY:

Alexander Dennis is seeking an Electrical Build Support Engineer to join our Current Model Engineering team in Las Vegas. This is a highly hands-on role that serves as the critical link between Engineering and Production, supporting vehicle builds through troubleshooting, validation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Spending approximately 70โ€“75% of your time on the production floor, you will work directly alongside production teams to investigate and resolve electrical and electronic issues affecting vehicle builds. You will review engineering documentation, analyze vehicle network communications, validate functionality, and implement practical engineering solutions that improve quality, reliability, and production efficiency. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world technical problems, working closely with manufacturing teams, and gaining deep product knowledge. It also offers an excellent opportunity for long-term growth within Alexander Dennis, with many team members moving into broader engineering and product development roles after gaining experience in Build Support.

WHY JOIN US:

  • Competitive Wages and comprehensive benefit package with immediate benefit eligibility
  • Paid holidays and vacation
  • 401K with generous company match

  • On-the-job training in a continuous learning environment (we invested $15.9 million in 2024)
  • Advancement opportunities within our family of companies

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Extensive hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems within the automotive, commercial vehicle, bus, heavy equipment, transportation, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated experience working with CAN Bus networks, J1939 communications, multiplexing systems, and vehicle electrical architectures.

  • Ability to perform thorough root cause analysis using engineering documentation, schematics, diagnostic data, and other technical tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Experience supporting vehicle commissioning, programming, validation, or functional testing activities.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Comfortable collaborating with globally distributed teams across North America and the United Kingdom.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Technical education, apprenticeship training, diploma, degree, or equivalent experience is considered an asset; however, extensive hands-on industry experience will be given greater consideration than formal educational credentials.
