Job description

Job Details
The goal of the Athletic Trainer in outpatient Orthopedics is to assist Orthopedic Providers to make a more efficient and patient centered practice by incorporating Einstein's/Jefferson's values, proper use of electronic medical records to document care, comprehensive knowledge of various conditions (orthopedic and non-orthopedic), insurance competency, casting/splinting, wound care, and use of medical knowledge to successfully complete administrative duties.
Job Description
  • Provides primary support to the Orthopedic Provider during outpatient clinic hours. Possible operating room opportunities to assist.
  • Clinic roles include patient pre-screening with history taking and appropriate examination techniques, patient preparation for arthrocentesis, cast application/removal, appropriate sports orthosis application, wound care, and suture removal.

  • Administrative duties include follow-up communications with patients, insurance authorization, patient scheduling including the facilitation of referrals generated from all contracted education institutions.
  • Other complimentary roles the certified athletic trainer provides are therapeutic care to individuals suffering injuries as a result of active lifestyle by utilizing modalities and therapeutic exercise upon referral to relieve pain, prevent disability, develop and improve skills and restore function. This may include Home Exercise Programs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelors Degree, or entry level Masters Degree from a NATA accredited college athletic training program required.

Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years as a practicing Athletic Trainer, required; Outpatient Orthopedic setting preferred.
  • Casting, splinting, bracing, wound care knowledge preferred

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:
  • Certification by the NATA-BOC (Class A) required.
  • Currently holds a PA license or qualified to obtain during hiring process, required
  • CPR certification through the American Heart Association or Basic Life Support required
  • Child abuse background check, required
  • Fingerprinting is required
