Job description

Job Overview: The Field and Data Civil Engineer-In-Training Level I plays a critical role in ensuring the success of engineering projects through fieldwork, data management, and adherence to safety and operational standards. This position requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to sustainable engineering solutions.


Experience Required

▪ Entry level to master level civil engineering or construction experience; or student internship experience in engineering or construction.

▪ Experience with database management and online dashboards preferred


Educational/Certification Requirements

▪ Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Engineering; Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

▪ EI or EIT certification (or ability to obtain quickly).

▪ Completion of P.A.C.E. certification within 90 days of employment.

▪ Professional Engineer (PE) license in TN (preferred)

▪ Industry Certifications (e.g., Asphalt, Concrete, Erosion Control, Earthwork, OSHA10)

▪ Advanced Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (Civil 3D)

▪ ESRI GIS skills preferred

▪ Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

▪ Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

▪ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

▪ Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.

▪ Ensure projects comply with legal requirements, construction specifications, and health, safety, and welfare standards.

▪ Monitor project progress, inspect sites, and verify calculations and placements.

▪ Calculate labor, material, and related costs to establish and manage budgets.

▪ Track expenses and analyze costs to maintain financial efficiency and optimize performance.

▪ Assist in designing and managing construction projects by reviewing concepts, drawings, and geotechnical data.

▪ Prepare engineering documents, including specifications, plans, schedules, and feasibility studies.

▪ Resolve design and development challenges effectively.

▪ Train and guide team members to meet project requirements and deadlines.

▪ Collaborate with colleagues to ensure project success and team cohesion.

▪ Utilize MS Office, AutoCAD (Civil 3D), ESRI GIS, and other software tools for data analysis and reporting.

▪ Ensure precise and accurate project documentation.

▪ Operate a company vehicle to access project sites safely and efficiently.

▪ Adhere to all safety standards and company policies.

Work Environment

This position offers a dynamic work environment that combines office-based collaboration with exciting fieldwork opportunities.
