Position Overview:
Join Siemens Mobility's Rail Infrastructure team and play a key role in developing and enhancing mission-critical dispatching software that supports the safe and efficient movement of rail networks. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the RTC-2 Dispatch platform by designing, developing, testing, and supporting complex distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work on real-world transportation technology that directly impacts rail operations across North America.
What Your Day May Look Like:
  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for enhancements, change requests, and defect resolution activities within the RTC-2 Dispatch platform.
  • Analyze software issues, troubleshoot production and development defects, and support root cause investigations for complex distributed systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, software testing activities, V&V test case reviews, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Manage and maintain development test environments, virtualization platforms, and deployment pipelines while supporting modern CI/CD practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, testers, and customers in an Agile environment, including participation in an emergency on-call support rotation.

What Will Make You Successful:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing software applications using C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, PL/SQL, and Perl.
  • Strong experience with Oracle databases, SQL development, and database-driven applications.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Unix/Solaris, and software development in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of software debugging, testing, documentation, estimation, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience developing and supporting web-based applications and distributed software systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, SVN, ClearCase, or other software version control systems.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, virtualization technologies, and logical domains.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience with rail dispatching, transportation management, signaling, or other mission-critical operational systems.
  • Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using open-source automation tools.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems architecture and highly available software environments.

  • Experience reviewing software requirements, validating test cases, and supporting verification and validation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate software development efforts and deliver projects in a fast-paced Agile environment.

The pay range for this position is $102,102.00 - $119,952.00 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
