Job description

Entry Level Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) – Miami, FL-Onsite


Job Overview

We are seeking a Data Center Field Installations Technician (L1) to support hands-on installation and deployment activities in a data center environment. This is an entry-level technical position focused on rack builds, equipment installation, structured cabling, power connections, and basic cooling and airflow management.

The ideal candidate is comfortable performing physical, hands-on work, following technical documentation and established procedures, and working safely in a fast-paced data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and prepare data center racks, including rail kits, PDUs, cable management, and labeling.
  • Rack and stack servers, network equipment, and storage systems according to specifications.
  • Install and manage structured cabling, including copper and fiber, with proper routing, dressing, and labeling.
  • Connect A/B power feeds while following established redundancy standards.
  • Install blanking panels and other airflow management components.
  • Support airflow optimization through proper cable routing and rack organization.
  • Assist with direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling installations under supervision, including hose routing and quick-disconnect connections.
  • Follow installation drawings, technical documentation, checklists, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
  • Perform basic quality checks and identify and report installation issues or discrepancies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Complete assigned installation activities in accordance with quality standards, safety requirements, and project SLAs.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of data center environments and IT hardware.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling, including copper and/or fiber.
  • Basic knowledge of rack infrastructure, including PDUs, rails, and cable management.
  • Basic understanding of airflow management; exposure to DX cooling or D2C liquid cooling is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and MOPs.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to perform physical, hands-on work, including lifting equipment, working in rack spaces, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a data center installation team.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all data center safety policies, procedures, and permit-to-work requirements.
  • Wear required PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Follow proper manual handling and lifting procedures.
  • Follow electrical safety procedures when working with power connections.
  • Follow safety requirements when working with liquid cooling systems and immediately report potential leaks or hazards.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and eliminate trip hazards.
  • Immediately report safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
