The Chemist I is an entry-level position within the Research Department, responsible for executing routine analytical testing, preparing samples, and managing data entry for the Testing Labs Operations. This is a 3-month temporary position with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance.
This role supports the development and production of water filtration technologies by operating a variety of analytical instruments and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results. The Chemist I works under the guidance of senior staff and reports directly to the Research Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepares and submits samples for analytical testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operates and maintains analytical instruments including ICP, GC, EDX, TGA, SEM, IC, and UV-VIS.
  • Performs routine chemical analyses and records data accurately in laboratory information systems.
  • Data entry and testing management using the Sample Submission Database.
  • Conducting custom filter performance testing to support business needs under the direction of the Lab Manager.
  • Conducts basic data interpretation and flags anomalies for review by senior staff.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory cleanliness, organization, and inventory of supplies.
  • Supports method execution under the direction of senior chemists or the Lab Manager.
  • Follows all environmental, health, and safety protocols in laboratory operations.
  • Participates in training to develop technical skills and understanding of analytical methods.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure timely completion of testing requests.
  • Escalates complex data interpretation or instrument issues to the Senior Analytical Chemist or Lab Manager.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related physical science required. (OR) Associate's degree with relevant industrial laboratory experience may be considered.
  • Experience in an industrial or academic laboratory setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and data entry systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
