The Bureau of Human Resources, Region 2 is currently recruiting to fill a
Human Resources Specialist vacancy at either the entry or Senior level. This position will be located at the Department of Corrections (DOC) central office in Madison, Wisconsin. Region 2 provides HR services to the DOC.
Position Summary
This position is part of a team dedicated to the recruitment and selection of high-volume recruitments for Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Responsibilities includes general talent acquisition tasks, developing and implementing innovative and effective recruitment strategies, and selection duties. Duties also include post-selection activities such as determining personnel transactions, pay administration, and data entry.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $33.00 and $35.70 per hour for the entry level and between $33.00 and $39.02 for the Senior level, plus excellent benefits. Pay upon appointment may vary and will be in accordance with language in the Compensation Plan, Statutes, and Administrative Code. The pay schedule/range is 81-04 for the entry level and 81-03 for the Senior level. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Job Details
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. Region 2 will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
NOTE: This position is expected to report to the office 5 days per week while training. After training is complete this position is eligible to work remotely up to 3 days per week.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Interpreting and communicating policies, procedures, laws, and/or regulations
- Performing routine staffing/recruiting duties (coordinating and/or conducting interviews, posting jobs, applicant liaison, etc.)
- Utilizing a human resources information system (HRIS) such as PeopleSoft, Lawson, etc.
In addition to the above and to be considered at the Senior level, well-qualified applicants will have experience:
- Performing complex staffing activities (developing pre-employment assessments and recruiting strategies, conducting job analyses, etc.)
- Performing compensation activities (providing pay rate recommendations, sign on bonus, add-ons, etc.)
- Conducting recruitments with a high volume of applicants (100+)
- Performing HR functions in the public sector
