Job description

Company Overview: 

Electric Power Systems, Inc. is a unique company offering a wide range of experience and capability of  design, consultation and studies as well as project construction through our sister companies. We are currently seeking a skilled Project Accounting Specialist to join our Anchorage team. This position is designed to develop a strong understanding of the financial lifecycle of projects, including project setup, costs, accruals, Estimate to Complete (ETC) / Work In Progress (WIP), billing, revenue, and financial reporting. As proficiency grows, the role may take on greater responsibility for project financial analysis, forecasting, reconciliations, and month-end project accounting.


Responsibilities:

Project Management Support:

●    Serve as the primary backup for the Projects Clerk to create new projects in Netsuite (the company’s financial software package), record change orders, update project information as needed, and close out inactive projects

●    Reviewing budgets and project cost data with Project Managers

●    Assist Project Managers and Accounting with monthly ETC reporting

●    Prepare monthly small firm fixed price contract project revenue accruals

●    Reading and interpreting contracts for contract budget and invoicing requirements

●    Producing project-related documents and reports for Project Managers and Officers

●    Train Project Managers on how to view reports within Netsuite

●    Constantly update job knowledge


Accounting Support:

●    Data entry into accounting software

●    Customer Invoicing

●    Support purchase order receiving and ensure transactions are accurately recorded within NetSuite

●    Maintain and process fixed asset depreciation entries and related accounting records

●    Assist with the monthly allocation and reconciliation of prepaid insurance and other prepaid expenses

●    Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in coordination with project managers, vendors, and accounting team members

●    Maintain accurate supporting documentation and follow established accounting procedures and internal controls

●    Assist with additional project accounting, reporting, and general accounting activities as assigned


Requirements:

●    Experience with accounting software, financial record keeping, databases, and other business related areas that require stringent deadlines, accuracy and organizational skills

●    Ability to work collaboratively with accounting personnel, project managers, engineers and other departments.

●    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

●    Ability to meet and manage deadlines

●    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word and Excel is a must (Google Docs included)

●    Solid communication skills both written and verbal, must be able work remotely with Project Managers and other staff

●    Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise

●    Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize and work under pressure
