Job description

The data analytics team/program primarily supports, identifies and implements data analytics initiatives across Federal Signal. Additionally, the team supports several strategic research/business development opportunities and tactical implementation/optimization projects at the discretion of the CEO/executive management with detailed data-driven analysis and solutions.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leverage data and research to test hypotheses generated to support ongoing assessment of growth objectives and business opportunities.
  2. Create and support the creation of data-intensive models that are geared at optimizing key strategic decisions across sales, operations and capital allocation.
  3. Develop and maintain detailed market share and market sizing analysis by key products and business units.
  4. Support data aggregation/data automation efforts across key external KPIs for the company to provide timely intelligence to business units, the corporate strategy team and senior management.
  5. Author and provide support analysis for quarterly and annual market intelligence reports for senior management based on assessment of external and internal data.
  6. Support realization of select data analytics projects through (1) the identification of new data-based intelligence offerings & (2) internal BU data analysis.
  7. Identify and disseminate sales lead generations by analyzing large unstructured data sets for key Federal Signal products.
  8. Maintain and update relevant data sets across internal and external sources and distribute data-driven conclusions to key internal stakeholders.
  9. Provide ad hoc data-analysis and support special projects as needed
  10. Perform other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required in analytical field such as data science, statistics, economics, computer science, or finance
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data analytic/analysis, strategy, consulting or a related analytical role 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge required
  • Experience in web-scraping strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation tools (e.g., Python, R) preferred
  • Self starter; intellectual curiosity
  • Foundational level skills in finance, forecasting and related analysis including modeling and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with large sets of unstructured data independently 

Target salary range: $65,000 - $95,000
