Employer & Industry UsageEntry roles in cybersecurity teams across various industriesOperational roles in security firms, large corporations, government agencies

Both roles involve monitoring security alerts and analyzing potential threats, often requiring similar certifications. Human analysts are essential for contextual understanding, decision-making, and handling complex or novel threats, making their role complementary to AI technologies. Entry-level SOC analysts should focus on developing skills in cybersecurity tools, threat detection, and incident response to work effectively alongside AI systems.

Is a SOC analyst an entry-level job?

A SOC analyst can be an entry-level position, especially for those with basic knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, network protocols, and security tools.
