Job description

Role Summary
The Cultivation Technician (Flower) executes hands-on work inside flowering rooms from flip
through harvest. The role follows SOPs for canopy work (trellising, defoliation, pruning),
irrigation/fertigation tasks, environmental monitoring, IPM scouting, data collection, and harvest
readiness support.
This technician helps ensure high-quality, compliant flower is delivered to
Post-Harvest on schedule while meeting Calypso’s safety, biosecurity, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Canopy Management
 Install trellis/netting; tuck, prune, and defoliate per run cards and timing windows.
 Maintain plant spacing and light distribution; remove senescent material to reduce risk.
 Support crop steering objectives by executing tasks that drive desired plant architecture.
Irrigation Fertigation Support
 Perform irrigation events as directed; check drippers, lines, timers, and emitters for
function.
 Take and log EC/pH of stock solutions, media runoff, and environmental/irrigation
readings.
 Mix stock solutions under supervision, label containers, and maintain line sanitation
SOPs.
Environmental Monitoring
 Record room setpoints and actuals (temp, RH/VPD, CO₂) and verify sensor/monitor
placement.
 Check airflow (fans/filters) and dehumidifiers; report alarms, leaks, or abnormal trends
immediately.
IPM Biosecurity
 Complete scouting routes (sticky cards, leaf inspections with loupe), record findings,
and flag issues.
 Follow entry/exit, footwear, and tool protocols; maintain quarantine practices when
required.
 Assist with biological releases or corrective actions under manager/QA direction.
Harvest Readiness Cut-Down Support
 Participate in pre-harvest checks (trichome maturity visuals, room clean readiness).
 Stage carts, sanitize tools, and help coordinate cut-down to meet dry-room reservations
and SOP specs.
 Accurately tag and move plants/parts; capture wet weights and reconcile counts.
Sanitation Organization (5S)
 Clean and disinfect rooms, trellis posts, tools, carts, drains, and floors per frequencies.
 Restock consumables (gloves, labels, zip ties, shears) and maintain tidy, audit-ready
rooms.
Documentation Compliance
 Complete room logs, IPM logs, sanitation checklists, irrigation records, and calibration
sheets accurately.
 Use labels/scanners/tablets for plant/lot movements; escalate discrepancies the same
shift.
 Support internal/external audits with neat, current records.
Qualifications
 1+ year hands-on horticulture/CEA or cannabis cultivation preferred; entry-level
candidates with strong plant aptitude considered.
 Working familiarity with flowering room tasks (trellising, defoliation, irrigation checks,
basic steering concepts).
 Basic understanding of EC/pH, VPD, airflow/dehumidification, and sanitation in
controlled environments.
 Comfortable using tablets/scanners, following digital/printed run cards, and entering
data accurately.
 Detail-oriented, reliable, team-focused; able to maintain pace without sacrificing quality.
Physical Schedule Requirements
 Stand/walk for extended periods; frequent bending, reaching, ladder/trellis work at
height.
 Repetitive hand work (tucking/defoliation/pruning); lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
 Work in warm/humid rooms with horticultural lighting and dehumidification systems.
 Regular exposure to sanitation chemicals per SDS (PPE provided/required).
 Flexible schedule aligned to crop and harvest cycles, including occasional
weekends/holidays.
