At Electronic Systems, you'll be among the brightest minds, working on the aerospace and defense industry's most difficult problems. Drawing strength from our differences, we're innovating for the future. And you can, too. Our flexible work environment provides you a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first - exemplified by our missions: "We Protect Those Who Protect Us®" and "We Innovate For Those Who Move The WorldTM." Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems.
Looking for an exciting career that utilizes your boundless creativity and technical innovation? We're looking for engineers who share our passion in developing industry-leading navigation technologies and equipment to protect our warfighters on all fronts.
Navigate the Future of Defense.
At BAE Systems, our employees develop the world's most critical electronics-from protecting pilots in contested airspace to enabling precision landings at sea. We are seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to join our team dedicated to the development of military GPS and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) products for the airborne and maritime market spaces.
This is an ideal role for an early-career engineer looking to grow their expertise in a high-impact environment. You will play a key role in advancing next-generation navigation solutions, including the Maritime and Aviation Receiver Card (MAVRC) and the Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS), as well as contribute to the development of industry-leading anti-jam technologies such as DIGAR™. Working under the guidance of senior engineering leadership, you will help ensure our products are reliable, high-performing, and developed through a disciplined systems engineering process.
In this role, you will contribute to the Systems Engineering V-Model-assisting with requirements decomposition, supporting system integration, and helping execute verification and validation activities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of software, RF, and hardware engineers to help move advanced PNT solutions from the lab to the warfighter.
The Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will provide technical support across the product development lifecycle. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Requirements Support: Assist in the analysis and decomposition of system-level requirements into detailed technical specifications for software and hardware.
  • Systems Integration: Support the integration of real-time embedded systems in a lab environment, helping to ensure hardware and software components work together seamlessly.

  • Technical Documentation: Assist in the creation of system specifications, interface control documents, and technical reports.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work within a multi-disciplinary team to understand customer needs and support the implementation of technical solutions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related).
  • Technical Aptitude: Fundamental understanding of systems engineering principles (e.g., the V-model, requirements traceability, and system integration).

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Digital Engineering: Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, or SysML.
  • Domain Interest: A functional interest or foundational knowledge in GPS, RF systems, or PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) solutions.
  • Certification Awareness: Basic familiarity with airborne product requirements or development standards (e.g., DO-178 or DO-254).
  • Tool Proficiency: Exposure to MATLAB, Python, or requirements management software (DOORS).
  • Clearance: Currently hold an active US Government Secret security clearance.
  • Applied AI: Ability to leverage generative AI tools to enhance or automate engineering tasks.
