Entry Level Contract information

What is an entry level contract?

An Entry Level Contract job is a position designed for individuals who are new to a field or industry and work under a temporary or fixed-term agreement. These roles often provide foundational experience, training, and opportunities for skill development. They may lead to permanent positions depending on performance and company needs. Entry-level contract jobs are common in industries like IT, finance, marketing, and administration. Compensation and benefits vary based on the employer and contract terms.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to handle in an entry level contract position?

In an entry-level contract role, you can expect to assist with drafting, reviewing, and organizing contract documents, preparing summaries or reports, and monitoring key dates and obligations. You may also liaise with internal teams, coordinate approvals, and help maintain digital filing systems, gaining exposure to various aspects of contract administration. Work is often collaborative, involving frequent communication with more senior staff and related departments like legal, procurement, or sales. This hands-on experience provides a valuable introduction to the field and helps build the skills needed for future advancement.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an entry level contract position, and why are they important?

To thrive in an entry-level contract role, you generally need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of business or legal processes, often backed by a relevant bachelor's degree. Familiarity with contract management software, document tracking systems, or basic Microsoft Office tools is commonly required. Effective communication, time management, and a proactive approach to learning will help you stand out. These skills are crucial for accurately managing contract workflows, meeting deadlines, and supporting more experienced colleagues as you develop professional expertise.

Job description

Overview:

Retail Merchandiser

SFS is growing, and we're looking for experienced Retail Merchandisers to join our nationwide network of independent contractors. This is an excellent opportunity for self-motivated professionals seeking flexible, supplemental income while servicing some of the nation's largest retailers and brands.

Our clients provide service windows rather than specific work schedules, allowing you a flexible schedule that works for you while meeting project requirements.

Assignments may include merchandising, product resets, cut-ins, inventory audits, display maintenance, POP installation, product stocking, and other retail support activities. Typical projects range from 12–20 hours per month, with some retailer locations requiring service during the first two weeks of each month.

If you enjoy working independently, staying active, and delivering high-quality retail execution, we'd love to connect with you.

Why Contract with SFS?

  • Set your own schedule
  • Choose the projects that fit your availability
  • Supplemental income opportunities
  • Competitive project-based pay
  • DailyPay available (enrollment required)
  • Ongoing merchandising, reset, and retail support projects
  • Opportunities to service multiple retailers and brands

What You'll Do

  • Review project instructions and client expectations before each assignment
  • Execute merchandising projects according to client requirements
  • Perform product resets, cut-ins, display maintenance, and promotional installations
  • Remove discontinued or outdated products and materials
  • Conduct inventory counts and product scanning activities
  • Stock and organize merchandise according to planograms and merchandising standards
  • Ensure displays are clean, organized, and accurately presented
  • Travel between retail locations as desired and accepted
  • Complete required reporting, including photos and project documentation, using a mobile device
  • Submit project completion reports on the same day services are performed

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous merchandising, retail, reset, auditing, or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to read and execute planograms and merchandising instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using mobile technology for reporting and project documentation
  • Available to complete assignments during retailer service windows, primarily weekday daytime hours
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds repeatedly
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and stand for extended periods
  • Reliable transportation for travel between assigned retail locations
  • Smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS) with internet access
  • Active email address for project communication and reporting
  • Ability to submit project completion reports and photos on the same day work is performed
