Job description

Riley Power group, LLC is a full-service maintenance and capital construction services company headquartered in Rock Hill, SC. We work nationwide on some of the most challenging, exciting construction and maintenance projects in the industrial sector. We are currently hiring a skilled Outside Electrician with high-voltage shipboard experience for multiple positions in the US. Essential Functions of this position may include but are not limited to:
The Outside Electrician should possess high-voltage electrical shipboard knowledge/experience. Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Fabricate and install wire-way hangers, stud shooting, install bulkhead stuffing tubes and various sizes and types of cables (thru and local) for lighting, communications, control, power, electronics, nuclear and weapons systems
  • Installation of components (terminal boxes, switches, controllers, wiring harnesses, cabinets etc.) for the various electrical systems.
  • Install main power switchboards and electrical nuclear equipment, cut in and hookup cables for installed components and installation and hook-up of ship's lighting
  • Install / build and test fiber optic systems
  • Perform work on high-voltage distribution systems
  • Work in confined spaces, onboard vessels.
  • Support equipment energization, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Follow lockout tagout (LOTO) electrical safety, energized work and high-voltage safety requirements.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting using appropriate meters, test equipment, schematics, and technical drawings and work packages.
  • Maintain strict compliance with all project-specific safety and quality requirements.

Qualification, education, and experience requirements:
Required:
  • Previous electrical/electronic trade experience with high-voltage or training
  • This position is physically demanding and requires the individual to be able to frequently carry up to 25 lbs. and push/pull more than 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work all shifts
  • Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required

Preferred:
  • Blueprint/electrical schematic reading and interpretation skilled
  • Electrical/electronic trades training/basic electrical knowledge
  • Previous high-voltage shipboard experience
  • High school diploma/GED; additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Military/Navy experience

Skills:
  • Must possess proficient, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret electrical and shipyard procedures, electrical schematics, technical manuals, test documents and diagrams desired
  • Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals
  • Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools

Successful candidate must possess the willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements which may include but are not limited to: Practical skills, COVID-19, other medical, psychological (if required by site), background and substance abuse screening(s).
Physical Requirements
Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet.
