Job description

Apex Building Company, LLC is seeking a laborer to support the installation and maintenance of waterproofing, spray foam insulation, rigid insulation, fireproofing, expansion joints, painting, traffic/floor coatings, etc. on commercial, industrial, and residential construction sites. This entry-level role involves assisting skilled tradespeople with surface preparation, material handling, and application support to ensure structures are protected from water intrusion.


Job Responsibilities

Assist with the installation of materials

Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, grinding, or applying primers as directed

Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment at designated work areas

Support caulking operations by handling backer rod, sealant tubes, and bulk caulk guns

Mix waterproofing products using drills and paddles, following instructions from foremen or journeymen

Set up and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment safely

Maintain a clean and organized job site, disposing of debris and cleaning tools as needed

Follow safety protocols when working with solvents, adhesives, and other hazardous materials

Assist with damming and containment when applying self-leveling products


Tools & Equipment Knowledge

Skilled in using drills, mixing paddles, spatula knives, and other waterproofing tools

Comfortable operating access equipment such as boom lifts, scissor lifts, swing stages, scaffolds, ladders, bosun’s chairs, and bucket trucks

Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures using solvent-based products (e.g., toluene, xylene) and associated safety precautions


Safety & Compliance

Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and job site protocols

Trained in fall protection, PPE usage, and safe handling of hazardous materials

Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in varied weather conditions
