Location: Remote, United States
Geographic Preference: East Coast preferred
Employment Type: Full-Time
Company Overview

Our client is a growing freight brokerage specializing in flatbed and open-deck transportation. The company partners with customers across the United States, providing reliable transportation solutions backed by responsive service, strong carrier relationships, and operational excellence.

Position Overview

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for developing direct shipper relationships and building a profitable book of flatbed freight business.

This is an experienced producer role, not an entry-level or training position. Candidates must have direct flatbed or open-deck freight brokerage sales experience, established customer relationships or an actionable pipeline, and the ability to begin generating revenue quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate new business with direct shippers requiring flatbed, open-deck, step-deck, Conestoga, oversized, or specialized transportation

  • Build and manage a profitable customer portfolio from initial prospecting through long-term account development

  • Conduct outbound prospecting through cold calling, email outreach, referrals, networking, and industry relationships

  • Identify freight opportunities, qualify customer requirements, develop pricing, and negotiate profitable transportation solutions

  • Collaborate with Operations and Carrier teams to ensure reliable load execution and exceptional customer service

  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding pricing, capacity, service performance, and market conditions

  • Expand existing accounts by identifying additional lanes, facilities, freight types, and decision-makers

  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate revenue and gross-profit forecasts

Requirements
  • Proven freight brokerage or third-party logistics sales experience

  • Direct experience selling flatbed or open-deck transportation services

  • Demonstrated success developing and managing profitable shipper accounts

  • Recent track record of producing meaningful weekly or monthly gross profit

  • Established customer relationships, an active pipeline, or a clear strategy for generating immediate business

  • Strong knowledge of flatbed pricing, equipment types, capacity, lanes, seasonality, and shipper requirements

  • Ability to prospect independently and close new business without extensive training or supervision

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills

  • Ability to work effectively with brokerage operations and carrier teams

  • Comfortable being measured against gross-profit, activity, and account-growth targets

  • Transferable or readily actionable customer relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • Existing relationships with manufacturers, steel companies, lumber companies, construction material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, or industrial shippers

  • Experience developing business across the East Coast or Southeastern United States
