Job description:
The Concrete Foreman will be responsible for supervising and coordinating field operations for concrete projects. This role requires strong leadership skills to manage a concrete crew and oversee their activities. Additionally, the Concrete Foreman may also engage in trade work alongside the crew.
What you will do:
  • Directly supervise the concrete crew, ensuring efficient and effective completion of tasks.
  • Report work progress and updates to the Superintendent regularly.
  • Demonstrate expertise in various types of concrete projects.
  • Possess knowledge in concrete work, surveying, and finishing techniques.
  • Read, understand, and interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Monitor crew organization, crew size, mix ratios, and compliance with wage regulations in collaboration with the Superintendent.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on time and materials used.
  • Ensure implementation of safety orientations and indoctrinations and provide coaching for continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

What you will need: (Minimum qualifications)
Education and Experience:
  • This is not an entry-level position. A minimum of 3 years experience as a Concrete Supervisor is required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to understand work instructions
  • Communicate effectively with management and colleagues

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform stooping, bending, and crouching as necessary.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 90 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to handle generators, lumber, construction materials, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Physical agility involves stretching, proper leg placement, and repetitive motions with arms and hands.
  • Constant vigilance and awareness of multiple activities on the construction site, including the presence of other workers, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including outdoor terrain in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to obtain certification for confined space entry, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 20 feet deep using ladders or crawling.
  • Ability to safely climb on and off heavy mobile equipment.

Work Environment:
  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Exposure to high levels of noise, grease, and dust typically associated with construction projects.
  • Regular proximity to heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • The presence of common substances found on construction sites, such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, and ready-mixed concrete.
